It's been a minute since my last post. Not much to talk about today, except the onset of autumn.... Definitely my favorite time of year.
Of course the leaves change, the days grow shorter, and the wind blows crisp and cool. We trade tank tops and shorts for sweaters and jeans. Some people switch from light beer to darker ales, and white wine to red. I like to color my naturally blonde hair a rich shade of mahogany red, changing my hair with the changing foliage. Even food changes its theme, from the fresh fruits and vegetables of summer to root vegetables, soups and roasts.
In geographic areas where autumn actually makes a difference in the weather, people are moved to be more intimate, indulgent, and just plain comfy-cozy.
When holidays come around, I think it would be wise for people to remember why we celebrate. Is it really for the colorfully wrapped packages? Is it really for the football? Is it really even for the turkey (or ham)? When we focus on the "stuff" of the season, THAT'S when we get stressed out about the holidays.
The reason I love this time of year is not because of the presents, the food, or even the beauty that cooler weather brings. It's because these cold months tend to bring us together, and because some of my happiest memories are those when I was surrounded by family and friends. It's even better now because of my babies and the man I love.
Bright blessings, love and light to you all.
